Whole-Home Wi-Fi with 5G Home Ultimate or LTE Home Plus FAQs

Whole-Home Wi-Fi is included with your 5G Home Ultimate* or LTE Home Plus wireless home internet plan. When you have Whole-Home Wi-Fi, you can choose to upgrade to Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus for $5/month (plus taxes & surcharges).

Verizon Whole-Home Wi-Fi** and Verizon Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus** include 3 features that help improve Wi-Fi coverage in your home:

• Wi-Fi Health Check in the My Verizon app to optimize your Wi-Fi network.
• Wi-Fi extender(s):***
  • Whole-Home Wi-Fi gives you 1 optional Wi-Fi extender for better signal strength in hard-to-reach places.
  • Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus gives you a total of 3 Wi-Fi extenders per line. 2 are sent with your order. Add a 3rd if needed after setup.
• Free router upgrade after 3 years. Included with the 5G Home Ultimate plan only.

*Also applies to the 5G Home Plus plan if you subscribed between 11/9/23 and 6/18/25.

Whole-Home Wi-Fi provides 1 optional Wi-Fi extender. To get up to 2 more extenders, you can upgrade to Verizon Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus. You’ll be billed an additional $5/month (plus taxes & surcharges).

To upgrade:

1. Visit the My Verizon app and go to Manage plans. 
2. Choose either 5G Home Ultimate or LTE Home Plus.
3. Tap Whole-Home Wi-Fi then tap Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus to upgrade.

You’ll see a summary with the new pricing and Wi-Fi extender shipping information.

If you only need 1 extender, you can change from Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus to Whole-Home Wi-Fi:

1. Visit the My Verizon app and go to Manage plans.
2. Choose either 5G Home Ultimate or LTE Home Plus.
3. Tap Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus then tap Downgrade to change to Whole-Home Wi-Fi.

We’ll email you instructions to return the extra extenders. You must return the extra Verizon-owned extenders to avoid an unreturned equipment fee.

Keep in mind: You’ll be billed the additional $5/month unless you downgrade your Whole-Home Wi-Fi Plus plan.

The Wi-Fi Health Check tool in My Verizon app helps you monitor Wi-Fi performance:

• Check the strength of the Wi-Fi connection between the router and connected devices.
• Determine if your home network would benefit from a Wi-Fi extender. (Requires 5 days of home internet use/history).

Important: This tool analyzes network performance, not internet activity.

When you have 5G Home Ultimate, you may be eligible for a no-cost router upgrade every 3 years if:*

1. Your account is in good standing.
2. You maintained a qualifying service plan for the preceding 12 months.
3. You used the existing router model for at least 3 years.

We’ll notify you in the My Verizon app when you’re eligible for the free upgrade.

Your upgrade eligibility will be displayed after signing into the My Verizon app. Upgraded equipment is subject to availability at the time of your eligibility. Verizon, at its discretion, may provide new or refurbished equipment as part of the upgrade. Verizon reserves the right to alter, limit, modify, or terminate this Router Upgrade Program, including its terms, rules, regulations, benefits, eligibility criteria, or any feature thereof, at any time, with or without prior notice.
