Family Line phone service FAQs

Family Line is a shared secondary voice-only line that up to 5 designated family members can join at once:

• Any smartphone device can make outgoing calls from the shared number.
• Incoming calls to the shared number ring across all designated devices.
• Any smartphone device can join in an active call at any time.
• Supports up to 3 calls at a time, allowing family members to use the same phone number to make separate calls to different parties simultaneously.

• Your child’s school or doctor's office can instantly reach all people assigned to the Family Line.
• Connect your Family Line to get the caregiving status of your loved ones.
• A low cost alternative to traditional landline that you can take anywhere on your mobile device.

Up to 5 designated mobile devices can share the Family Line. Each smartphone device must be a member on the same Wireless billing account.

Good to know: If an Account Owner or Account Manager gets their own Family Plus Perk plan, they can get their own Family Line account as well.

Family Line is included when you have a Verizon Family Plus subscription. Only one subscription is required.

Each device that uses the Family Line must also have:

• The Verizon Family app
• A Wi-Fi or cellular data connection so phone calls can be made.

All members need to:

• Download the Verizon Family app*
  • Your dependents need to download the Companion app
• Sign up for Family Line.

Family Line is available only with a Verizon Family Plus subscription. The cost is:

• $14.99/month*
• $10/month with the Verizon Family Plus perk

No, a new number will be provided to you for your Family Line.

No, in-app messaging is not currently supported within Family Line.

You must be a Guardian on the Verizon Family Plus account to set up Family Line.

To set up Family Line in the Verizon Family app:

1. Tap on Learn more within the ‘Introducing Family Line’ banner or tap Chat/Call button.
2. Select Set up Family Line.
3. Accept Terms & Conditions and onboarding permissions.
4. Complete onboarding screens.

After you sign up and get a phone number, you can invite others to join your Family Line.

To remove Family Line but keep Verizon Family Plus, you can go to Settings (gear icon), Manage and choose Cancel Family Line.

Also, when you downgrade from Verizon Family Plus to Verizon Family Basic tier, Family Line will automatically be removed.

Keep in mind: If you create a new family with a Verizon Family Plus plan, members will be removed from your old Family Line account.

The Account Owners and Account Managers of your Verizon account can unsubscribe from Verizon Family through the Products & plan perks page in My Verizon.

Family Line lets you:

• Make or get up to 3 phone calls at the same time from different parties
• Barge (join-in) an active call
• Manage devices sharing the Family Line

Family Line supports access to:

• A dialer that supports making and receiving calls
• Managing contacts
• Placing on-holds
• Conferencing
• Call history
• Voicemail

As a guardian in Family Line, you can:

• Add or remove other family members so that up to 5 devices can share the Family Line
• Set up voicemail
• Enable Do Not Disturb
• Access call history
• Delete call and voicemail history

As a dependent, you can:

• Make or receive calls using the Family Line dialer
• Conference in other family members onto ongoing calls
• View call and voicemail history

Keep in mind: A dependent cannot delete any calls or voicemails.

An incoming call banner appears on your device with a Family Line icon or text.

To add a new call:

• Open the dialer on Family Line’s main screen using the phone icon at the bottom right.
• Dial a new number.

You can also answer or switch between incoming calls.

A banner shows on the Verizon Family app for an active call. Members can click the menu on the banner and tap Join.

From Family Line’s main screen, go to Settings (top left gear icon) > General menu. Do Not Disturb (DND) is the only option available there.

From Family Line’s main screen, go to Settings (top left gear icon) > Manage. Delete the ‘pending’ invited member and re-invite.

Family Line requires data connection to work. Make sure you have a cell signal or Internet connection. If you are trying to make a call on a dependent’s phone, check for parental control time restrictions on data usage.
