Here's how to use the real-time text (RTT) function on your Pixel 5.
Real-time text (RTT) is text transmitted instantly as it is typed or created. Recipients can immediately read the message while it is being written, without waiting or the need for an additional device.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the
    Phone icon
    Phone app icon (lower-left).
    If unavailable, swipe up to display all apps then tap
    Phone
    .
  2. Tap the
    Menu icon
    Menu icon (upper-right) then tap
    Settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Accessibility
    .
  4. Tap
    Real-time text (RTT)
    then select from one of the following options:
    • Not visible
    • Visible during call
    • Always visible
  1. From a Home screen, tap the
    Phone icon
    Phone app icon then make a call.
    If unavailable, swipe up to display all apps then tap
    Phone
    .
  2. Once the call connects, tap the
    RTT icon
    .
    If unavailable, swipe screen to the left then tap the
    RTT icon
    .
    Below is an example of a call connected with RTT.

  1. While on a call, tap the
    End icon
    (upper-left) to end the call.
