Samsung Galaxy Note9 - Use Multi Window

Here's how to use two apps simultaneously on your Samsung Galaxy.
  • The Multi window feature allows multiple apps to be run on the current screen at the same time, is turned on by default and can't be turned off.
  • 'Multi window' is also referred to as split screen.
  • The 'Multi window' feature allows multiple apps to be run on the current screen at the same time.
  • Not all apps support the 'Multi window' feature.

  1. From any screen, touch and hold the
    Recent apps icon
    Recent apps icon (lower-left).
  2. Scroll left or right to locate the preferred app then tap the app icon (e.g., Calendar, Gallery, Email, etc.) located at the top of the panel.
  3. Tap
    Open in split screen view
    .
  4. From the Recent apps screen, tap the second application to be viewed.
    When on, tap the Recent apps icon (lower-left) to change the current app.
    Adjust the size of the apps by sliding the horizontal bar between the applications up or down.
  5. From the Recent apps screen, tap the second app to be viewed.
    When on, tap the
    Split screen icon
    Split icon (lower-left) to change the current app or to close the split screen view by tapping the
    Close icon
    Close icon (top).

  3. Tap the app icon (e.g., Gmail, Settings, Email, etc.) at the top of the panel then tap one of the following:
    Options may vary depending on the app selected.

    • Open in split screen view
      : Allows you to view two apps side-by-side.
    • Open in pop-up view
      : Allows you to view one app while another is open behind it.
  4. Touch and hold the top bar of the pop-up to move the placement of the app.
  5. Adjust the opacity of the pop-up by tapping the
    Contrast icon
    Contrast icon then sliding the blue dot left to right.
  6. Adjust the pop-up by tapping the Minimize Minimize icon , Maximize Maximize icon or Close icon Close icon.
