How to block your number & block Caller ID FAQs

Caller ID displays the caller's phone number (for all unblocked numbers) on your phone. It may also show the name of the person if it's already been stored in your phone's memory. Caller ID is included with all plans.

Other enhanced Caller ID services display the name, picture, city or state for incoming and/or outgoing calls*:

• Company Name ID (business accounts only)

Caller ID Blocking blocks your number from being displayed through Caller ID either permanently or temporarily. It's a free service.

Note: You can't block your number from appearing when calling certain numbers, such as 800 numbers and 911.

Caller ID Blocking protects your privacy by not displaying your phone number to the people you call.

You have the option to block Caller ID either temporarily or permanently.

To block your number from being displayed temporarily for a specific call:

1. Enter *67.
2. Enter the number you wish to call (including area code).
3. Tap Call. The words "Private," "Anonymous," or some other indicator will appear on the recipient's phone instead of your mobile number.

Note: Calls to 800 numbers and 911 won't use Caller ID Blocking.

To deactivate Caller ID Blocking for a specific number:

1. Enter *82.
2. Enter the number.
3. Tap Call.

You can turn on Caller ID Block with the My Verizon app or online to prevent people you call from seeing your mobile number.

1. Tap the menu in the top left to open it.
2. Tap Plans & Devices.
3. Find the device you want to add Caller ID Blocking to and tap View details.
4. Tap Block specific services.
5. Find Caller ID Blocking and tap the switch so it's green.

My Verizon website:

1. Go to the Manage Blocks page in My Verizon.
   
   Note: If you have more than one line on your account, select the line you want to block Caller ID for.
2. Tap or click Block Services.
3. If you're on a smartphone, tap Add. Otherwise skip this step.
4. Under Additional Services find Caller ID Blocking and select On.

Yes, you can block calls from specific numbers using our Call and Message Blocking feature in My Verizon, or by subscribing to Verizon Family. Call and Message Blocking is a temporary feature that lasts up to 90 days. After this period, the block has to be reapplied. For a permanent solution, subscribe to Verizon Family.

To stop frequent spam and robocalls from unknown numbers, Call Filter is our most effective solution because you can use a block list or spam filter to automatically block all unwanted spam calls from reaching you.

Yes, if you subscribe to Verizon Family, you can block a restricted number from calling you. To block a restricted or private number from calling you:

1. Open the Verizon Family app on your device.
2. Go to a Family Members dashboard.
3. Tap Contacts.
4. Tap Blocked contacts.
5. Tap Block a number.
6. Enter the contact, then tap Save.
7. Select Block private and restricted texts and calls to enable the block.

   • Block picture and video messaging: Prevents the line from sending and receiving any picture and video messages. You'll still be able to send and receive text messages.
