3 ways to use the Gizmo Watch 3 that might surprise you

By: Molly McGinn

Parents like the GPS tracking, kids love staying in touch with friends. But features like a medical ID make the Gizmo Watch 3 more helpful than you might know.

The Gizmo Watch 3 is made for kids—but its powerful safety features make it a go-to for parents too.

For kids, the Gizmo Watch 3 is all about staying touch with friends through voice calling, video calling and messaging. For parents, some of the most important features are the ability to monitor the watch’s location and for the child to call their  emergency contact—both of which can be managed from the GizmoHub app on the parent’s phone.

With so many smart features, even the most experienced user may overlook a few key options. Here are three ways to use the Gizmo Watch 3 that you may not know about.

Provide your child’s medical info when it counts.

Sure, you can set up basic profile information on Gizmo Watch 3, but the Medical ID feature also shows their medications, blood type and custom details—like allergies or medical conditions—when teachers, school nurses or other trusted adults need to know.

You can set up and edit the Medical ID feature from the GizmoHub app on your phone, and it automatically syncs with your child’s watch.

Here’s how your child can access the Medical ID quickly so they can share it in an emergency:

  • Press and hold the SOS button for two to three seconds. It’s the oval button just above the power button on the right side of the watch.
  • Two options appear: Swipe to see the Medical ID information, or swipe to call the emergency contact.
  • Medical ID is accessible even when the watch is set to School Mode.

Access emergency features.

School Mode disables nearly all of the watch’s features such as games, video camera and text messaging, but it won’t disable the Medical ID feature or emergency calling. Even if they’re at school and the watch is in School Mode, they can still reach their emergency contact. Simply teach your child to:

  • Press and hold the SOS button for two to three seconds in an emergency.
  • Show them how their emergency contact’s name will appear, such as “Mom” or “Grandma.”
  • Have them swipe the watch face screen to call their emergency contact.

Find Gizmo when misplaced.

There’s a difference between looking for your child by checking the Gizmo Watch’s location and looking for the watch when it’s lost somewhere in the house.

If the Gizmo Watch is lost somewhere at home—perhaps between couch cushions or deep in a backpack—tap “Find Gizmo” and if the watch is on and powered up, it plays a tone until you find it.

  • Open the GizmoHub app on your phone.
  • From the dashboard, select “Kids.”
  • Tap the kid’s profile for the watch you want to find.
  • Select “Find Gizmo.”

To locate your child when they’re wearing the watch, open the GizmoHub app on your phone and the dashboard shows you where the Gizmo Watch location is in near-real-time. If the app is already open, you can tap the location refresh icon to get a location update.

Simple to use, easy to love.

The Gizmo Watch 3 is a good introduction to smart devices that can help you teach your child how to use tech responsibly—and there’s always something new to learn. Like using the Gizmo Watch 3 to help ease the daily routine or even to boost their independence.
